Zillow is one of those apps that you’ll have a hard time trusting. Most of thier listings are genuine scams and the app is genuinely wonky as heck and starts lagging after a second. Most info of most homes aren’t even there so you gotta look up stuff instead of I being there

No one responds back after you have payed application fees. It like they take your money and never show you house.

Zillow give me a refund please

Most management companies do not except the premium Zillow credit check you pay for. Essentially it robs them of their ability to charge for applications. Don’t purchase anything from Zillow.

Terrible customer support.

I submitted a question on the customer support chat on January 22nd, 2025, it has been pending with a note saying “We will respond to your message as soon as possible. It is now April 27th, 2025, I replied stating this and the chat still gives the message. Terrible customer support. As for what my issue is (which has yet to be resolved) is that when signing up, an autogenerated email was set up and it does not allow me to change it. Didn’t allow me to change it when making the account, doesn’t allow to change now either. I keep getting the same error message saying “Operation could not be completed. Something went wrong, check your network and try again.” It is ridiculous to have to wait over 3 months to get a reply, which I have yet to get.

Needs more filters

Please add additional filters to find residences with gas ranges and exclude winter rentals. Too often there are listings that seem really nice only to find out it’s only available for 4 months out of the year. It’s such a waste of time to see something, check, and then get disappointed. Make it easier to remove records that aren’t relevant to the user. Thanks.

If I wanted a short term vacation rental I would search AirBnB

If Zillow is going to allow fully furnished vacation rentals to be advertised it would be nice to be able to filter them out in the search function. Over half of the listings in my area are fully furnished short term 30+ day vacation rentals and it’s frustrating to have to read through so many of them when I’m trying to find a place to live. Some of them do not mention it is a seasonal rental until you reach out to the owner/agent via Zillow. I understand that homeowners trying to avoid being busted for short term rentals in towns that prohibit them need a place to advertise, but this has ruined Zillow Rentals in my area.

Too Owner-Centric, Frustrating for Renters

Zillow Rentals is far too focused on property owners, at the expense of renters’ time and safety. RVs and motorhomes should never be categorized as “apartments.” They lack insulation, security, and livable space, yet are listed alongside actual apartments with nearly identical pricing. It’s misleading, and frankly absurd. Mobile homes (aka “manufactured homes”) should also have their own category—especially when space rent is separate. Lumping everything together creates clutter and wastes renters’ time. Filters are barebones and search results are often inaccurate. Key listing details—like estimated costs, utilities, and pet policies—are frequently missing. If listers are entering the data, the app should require complete info before publishing. Otherwise, the “estimated cost” feature is useless. The ability to rate landlords is a welcome addition, but overall, this app continues to prioritize ease for owners over usability for renters. It’s high time Zillow addressed this imbalance and gave renters the functionality and transparency we deserve.

Messages don’t work

I keep getting texts that the landlord messaged me but they don’t appear in my inbox at all, regardless if I use the app or website

Filter out 55+ community

Why isn’t there an option to filter out the 55+ communities?!?! Very frustrating seeing places and then having to find out later if they happen to leave it out of the description.

Important Request

Dear who it may concern, please make the app have an ability to review private landlords and their private rental properties. This would ensure accountability and make the rental game in the US that much better. There is a website for this, but it would make a HUGE difference for it to be natively on the Zillow app. If you do this before any other rental app, you will have a leg up on the competition. Disabled access

I am a potential renter looking for a place to live, and I am being messaged, but can’t read my messages due to Zillow disabling my account for I have no reason in understanding why I haven’t posted any places on here, pretending to be a potential real estate agent, looking for someone I am a renter looking to rent and Zillow your response time and getting back to meIt’s in some efficient you guys should be more on top of things instead of disabling somebody’s account you could’ve called somebody and asked questions too.

As a Landlord, Easy to Manage Listing.

I love the availability of Rental Comps, Summary of prospective tenants complete with their info and activity and if needed the availability of an agent to manage the rental .

App is updated. Does not work, all messages have disappeared and cannot reply to viewing inquiries etc. 0/10

Great for renters great for landlords

I only manage 3 rentals but have helped others get into renting out properties and stepping into the world of Landlording. My go to for finding the right renters is Zillow and use of their tools. In 15 years of renting and having 3 rentals… only one person did I ever have to ask for the rent, and that was the one renter I didn’t find on Zillow. All payments have been made on time with great renters. Thank you Zillow!

Best house finder ever

Great app it does what the other apps can't which is find properties you have not seen and give detail description about them .also you can fill out your application for many properties that's a win win 🏆 for me!

App Issues With Favoriting Homes

Been using app for years. Had no issues until 2024 - Current. App isn’t saving any of the homes/apartments/rentals in my favorites. Not sure what’s going on, but FIX THIS, & I mean NOW. Hard to keep up with which homes I initially want to go view & possibly buy/rent from. Annoying! Currently uninstalling & won’t be using Zillow anymore from here on out. I will find another way & go back to the traditional way of finding homes—i.e. driving around to find a place to stay. This is ridiculous. Idk what they have changed, but it is TERRIBLE & ruining everyone’s experience to find a home. Rating 1 Star. If I could, it’d be 0 Stars for me.

Waiting

I have been waiting for people to respond to my message. It ask if I want an appointment to see it ask days. I put it in and nothing. So how do we have to wait to look at it. If the person doesn’t have times for that day they shouldn’t put it in there.

FIX ISSUES WITH MESSAGES PLS

I like the layout of Zillow but it’s very frustrating trying to contact renters and realtors because there is no way to see the messages they send to me. I will get an email notification saying I received a message and can see a preview of the first few words but if I click the link in the email, or go directly to the app, or even go on a regular desktop web browser I can never see any of my messages.

Never works!!

Doesn’t bring up a single rental from any location. And yes my location services were on during the times I’ve tried using it.

My Experience with Zillow Rentals

This review is based on my personal experience. I’ve been renting in NYC for the last 10 years, and I’ve never felt as frustrated with finding a place or a roommate as I do now. Apps like Zillow are convenient options for people looking for rentals, especially since they cater to landlords who don’t want the hassle of managing their properties and hand over control to big companies like Zillow. However, this convenience comes at a cost. Companies like Zillow contribute to keeping rents high and create what feels like an absurd monopoly in certain areas, particularly on the west side of Manhattan. Don’t get me wrong—I’m not trying to hate on Zillow. They can be a good resource if you’re looking for short-term, fully furnished rentals. But for anyone seeking affordable, long-term options, this app leaves much to be desired. The limited availability of listings outside their control is disappointing. The lack of diversity in options makes it hard to find reasonably priced rentals, pushing tenants into overpriced situations. If you’re looking for alternatives, I recommend checking out Craigslist, StreetEasy, and Roomies. Don’t let yourself be taken advantage of by these monopolized platforms.

I like the lay out how you show the rooms and just really good info. But I’ve not worked enough I was hope it would work for me once I gave my information! I’ve gotten a few sent to me but I would think there would be a lot more than

Better Since Update

Much better since the last update, after using it the navigation throughout the app became easier. However… there are unhideable properties and that is VERY annoying.

Pretty much worthless if you have a vision impair

This app is just about useless to use if you have a vision impairment I mean I wasn’t aware that blind people couldn’t buy homes, but apparently Zillow doesn’t care if their app is accessible. I can’t set any price so I can search for homes and my price range and when I tried to do the price tool, it just won’t set lots of things aren’t labeled with text labels and many buttons just won’t press one voiceover is on get it together Zillow you’re a major corporation. I think you should be able to use some free developer tools from Apple to make your app accessible.

Scammers

This app allows these fake real estate agents to scam people. They advertise apartments that are not available. They charge fees to help you find one and they take your money and delete block your number and email. What a shame!!!!

Inaccurate Pricing

Most posts that you see will have higher pricing once you click the listing. Then, once you view in person, the price will almost always be more.

Information available is not enough

We are required to create a profile and add so much of our information but we have no access to the listers information. It would be nice if lister are also required to put out public information such as what group they are from or anything at all.

Zillow Scam

app suppose to be for renters not home buyers as soon as app opens gives only info on home buying just unethical business practices, worst part once a renter replies messages never get through...

Very buggy

The app is really laggy, doesn’t seem to sync my messages properly. When I try to access them from my email, it’s blank. Additionally the method to send messages/ask questions to property managers doesn’t seem to give a good indication of whether your message was successfully sent or not.

Messages broken; no support

Message system is broken. Can only see I got a message in email, not in app. Quick google shows this has been going on for years. No support to remedy.

Ok app

This app works pretty well. I get irritated because my area has a lot of winter, furnished rentals, and there's no filter to just search for 12 month leases. You get stuck looking in the description or just trying to look at the picture and guess. It would be also nice if you could expand the search without saying the exact city or town.

needs improvement

Cannot hide listings from a building. If you determine you do not want to live in an apartment building that regularly lists many new apartments, there is no way to filter those out. Only independent owners properties seem to be able to be filtered out. Also, every time I simply look at listings from large buildings, this app adds it to my favorites and then I have to remove the "heart". Not sure whether it's a bug or unethical marketing tactic. Finally, when reporting properties for false advertisement (say, doubling or tripling the square footage), zillow doesn't do anything about it.

Renter experience needs love

Despite installing only the renter app, I receive push notifications for homes for sale, but that’s the least of my concerns. There are filters made available that are crucial to weeding through the available rentals, but property managers and home owners aren’t using them. As a result, selecting “single story homes” will net zero rentals, which is not accurate. It’s also impossible to filter between garage sizes, leaving us to search based on analyzing images or reaching out to the owner and wasting time for both of us.

Fake updates in saved searches

Constant fake update numbers (red badge) on app. Says there are 5-10 times more updates than actual number of updates on saved search list. “Customer service” doesn’t answer direct questions, just gives a list of generic Ai answers.

Still looking for a tenant

I want to mak sure my vacancy is on the market? I have seen something to say it was off the market. I do not understand. Is that for selling or renting? I am trying to rent my flat out at 2905 Waverly. Please let me know that my flat is still on the market. I have not gotten any Inquiries about this unit.

Too Many Duplexes

We got the app to look for a house to rent. There’s no way to filter out duplexes, so they get mixed in with the results. You have to click on each listing and read through it to see if it’s a duplex or an actual house to yourself. Too time consuming.

Compromised app

The app would not accept my apple credentials. I was forced to use a Gmail to login. After logging in to do a search I shut my iPad off and can not login to my iPad.

Actually prevents you from deactivating your account!

So I was trying to deactivate my account since I wasn’t really getting much help or use from this app and I am actually being prevented from deactivating my personal account by Zillow that would purposely make it an error and keeping it active wow

Room dimensions

Please provide room dimensions by the feet and inches. This includes the garage dimension, which may be most important and consideration of the rental. The garage is primarily used to garage a vehicle and not storage. These measurements will save time for the potential renter and the agent of the property showing or not showing the property.

Incorrect credit scores reflected on application

The same old story, can’t reach them and no one responds. I am a former property manager using the app for the first time as a renter and very disappointed. After getting scammed by a fake property manager from a Zillow ad, my credit score crashed. After working on recovering from that for 2 months, got it back to where is was before the Zillow scam. Ran another application today and it was EXACTLY the same from months prior!!!! Just wasted $35 for the application, but even more frustrating I’ll probably lose another rental thanks to their inept business. And this company is supposed to be the industry standard?l
